Hi There!
I can't believe it's March already! The year is really galloping along and this month I wanted to give you a few action points to stir things up a bit.
Action Point #1 Try something different.
This one I know from very recent personal experience. I was mortified the other day when my husband bought me a mountain bike. He had owned one for a while but I think I’d only been on it perhaps twice. Our two boys each had new bikes with gears, and my husband wanted us to all go off for a family ride together. So wearing my new white helmet we visited one of the mountain bike tracks near Honeydew. The owner instructed us about the different difficulties for each colour grade of track and we were started off on the easiest of the blue tracks. Well what can I say! You couldn’t get me off the place – I had the most brilliant time and was the last one wanting to go home. We were hot, dusty and sweaty, but the exhilaration of taking on a particular track, not knowing whether you’re going to be able to complete it and not fall off, was addictive. I am now really grateful to my husband for getting me out of my comfort zone, and I can't wait to go again.
It sometimes takes an experience like this to realise how open minded we need to be and ready to try new things. Get out of your comfort zone and be open to suggestions from other people - try new foods, experience a different class at the gym, get a different haircut.
Action Point #2 Get inspiration from your kids.
I’m always amazed at just how much our children can build into a day. Don't get me wrong - I'm not advocating hyper parenting with every hour of our kids' lives scheduled to the point of exhaustion. What I do admire though is how these little bodies can go from classroom to cricket practice, extra mural karate and still do their homework with such good attitudes. Good things to eat and plenty of rest and they’re thriving the next day! Perhaps there's a lesson here for us oldies, and whenever we're feeling tired and drained we should think about how much our kids get out of each day, and copy them.
Action Point #3 Take part in Oprah's ‘A New Life’ webcast
If you’re struggling to find your true direction in life and want some enlightenment, why don’t you take part in Oprah’s worldwide webcast associated with the book 'A New Earth - Awakening To Your Life's Purpose'. Each week for ten weeks Oprah and the book's author Eckhart Tolle, will be conducting a class via the Internet to teach people an understanding of the world and find their true direction in life. The live webcast takes place each Monday evening (US Time), but is available to be downloaded 24 hours later. The first class is on 3rd March 2008. See www.oprah.com for more details.
Organising Tip #18 Stocktake your freezer.
In these days of power cuts, I decided to consolidate the contents of our two freezers into one in order to save electricity. Even though I checked the contents just before the mad rush of December holidays, I couldn't believe just how much food was still in there that needed to be eaten. I took everything out, listed it ona piece of paper, and then repacked the food putting the meat together, the frozen vegetables together, etc. I took my list and then made a meal plan for the next few days in order for the food to be eaten. Some of the meals were amazing and I saved money by not having to go shopping.
